Manhood and Christlikeness are synonymous

Being a male is a matter of birth, being a man is a matter of choice

Your word is your bond

You don’t drown by falling into the water, you drown by staying there

Lower morality leads to higher mortality

You are committed to what you confess

Are you gonna keep it going ?

Father’s Day Message Sept 3 2017.

Malachi 4:5-6  “See, I will send the prophet Elijah to you before that great and dreadful day of the Lord comes. He will turn the hearts of the parents to their children, and the hearts of the children to their parents; or else I will come and strike the land with total destruction.”

Ephesians 6:1-4   Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. “Honor your father and mother”—which is the first commandment with a promise—“so that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth.” h

Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.

Exodus 4:19-20 1Now the Lord had said to Moses in Midian, “Go back to Egypt, for all those who wanted to kill you are dead.” 20 So Moses took his wife and sons, put them on a donkey and started back to Egypt. And he took the staff of God in his hand.

Genesis 2:15 15 The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it.

Seven things I've learned as a father.

  1. The father always establishes the atmosphere in the home:

A Fathers role is as Prophet , Priest and King

Prophet—speaks from God to the people

Priest—speaks from the people to God

King—rules by serving  (Classic example today is the Queen - She has completely given up her life to serve her subjects)

You are only qualified to lead to the degree you are willing to serve.

We are to…

guide, guard, govern
direct, protect, correct
nourish, cherish, admonish

and provide …stewardship, relationship, leadership

Maturity does not come with age; it begins with the acceptance of responsibility.

 2.   A father must love his family redemptively.
The love of God is unconditional, sacrificial and redemptive.

 3. It’s not the father’s responsibility to make all his children’s decisions but to let his children see him make his.   Your children may not always listen to you, but they will always imitate you.

 4.    It is the father’s responsibility in the home to give his family intimacy, discipline, love and value

 5. The father must be a fabulous father, not a deadly dad.

 6.   Fathers must live for God seven days a week.

 7.   Fathers need to teach truth in the positive and not in the negative.

Five Things a Father Must Teach His Children

1. The attributes of God.

2. Who Jesus Christ is, what He has done, His promise

3. The nature of man, and his need for a saviour

4. The requirements of salvation

5. Reverence for the Word of God
